Artists may list original, physical artworks created entirely by them. The following are not permitted: AI-generated works Mass-produced works Derivative works, including fan art, copyrighted characters, logos, trademarks, or substantial reproduction of existing artworks DOTDAT does not make legal determinations regarding fair use. Artists are solely responsible for determining whether any use of third-party intellectual property qualifies as fair use. Artists are fully responsible for ensuring that all listed works are original and do not infringe any third-party intellectual property or other rights. What information must I provide for each artwork? Artists must provide accurate and complete information for each listing, including: Title, medium, dimensions, and year Price and condition Whether the artwork is framed or unframed Artists are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all listing information.
Do I need to provide a Certificate of Authenticity?
Yes. All artworks sold on DOTDAT must include a signed Certificate of Authenticity (COA). DOTDAT may provide COA templates for convenience; however, the COA represents the artist’s sole attestation. DOTDAT does not verify, authenticate, or guarantee the statements contained in any certificate and does not independently verify originality, provenance, or authorship.
How are prices determined?
Artists set their own prices. DOTDAT may provide general pricing guidance based on student and emerging-artist markets, but all final pricing decisions remain the artist’s responsibility. Artists are responsible for understanding and complying with any applicable tax obligations related to pricing and sales.
What commission does DOTDAT take?
DOTDAT charges a commission on completed sales. Current commission rates are disclosed to artists prior to onboarding or listing artwork. Commission rates may change from time to time. The Terms of Service control in the event of any inconsistency.
